Hi, my name is Elaine and I live in the great State of Texas!  I was looking to revamp my weightlifting regiment and ran across O.R. Marv through a friend of mine who had been using a new regiment  for more than a month. Marv had written her up a personal regiment and I loved the way she was looking, so I took the plunge!  To get started, he asked me questions about my personal habits, family history, and what my own personal goals were. He also took into consideration that I like to run outdoors and attend a couple classes at the gym I use.  In a couple days, I had an AMAZING regiment designed just for me, one that can carry me through a couple months.  Not only did he create an incredible plan, but he continues to check in with me and answer questions that I might have pertaining to different techniques.  I feel like he is located right here in Texas, even though he is in Cali. I stumbled across One Rep At A Time on social media within days of getting sober. Like most recovering addicts, I was desperate to get healthy — physically, mentally and emotionally. I’m a former NCAA D1 athlete (swimming & rowing) with pretty extensive experience in the weight room — which is why I was particularly drawn to One Rep at a Time. Marv took his time developing a custom fitness routine for me, taking into consideration my athletic history as well as my decade-long struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. My name is Connie Sue and this is my testimony of ONE REP AT A TIME!!!

I came to Marv at a very miserable 176 lbs on a 5’9 frame… I was unable to find the right process to not only lose weight but to feel better physically and mentally … I had been dieting for as long as I can remember. I had some success with some crash diets but they were only temporary changes in my body but nothing ever stuck.

When I asked Marv to teach me how to use my weight room and work up a food plan for me … I never in a million years expected what I received … Coupled with the right work out and a nutritional guideline … I have successfully lost and maintained a 30 lb weight loss for over 6 months now. Not only did he teach me how to workout at the gym in my home he educated me on proper proteins and the importance of meals. I was actually eating too little.

The gratitude and satisfaction that I received as a result of committing to this process is beyond English language … I never thought I would be the size I am (7), at the age I am (52), with the energy level I now have(high)!!!

The best part of this process for me is I don’t mind doing the workout cause I really only spend 45 min lifting weights and working out (I hate the gym so this is huge to keep me motivated)

If you are thinking about giving him a try I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! I have tried every fad diet or quick workout scam ever known to man… trust me I did the footwork for you so you don’t have to!

I have been an avid gym goer for many years now, especially after addiction, anorexia, and mental health issues. Recovery has taught me that I need to take care of myself, but I may not know what’s best all of the time, especially in an area that I’m not trained professionally. The gym.

I’ve had numerous trainers, and many of which who’ve given me something beneficial. Then ultimately I plateau, especially with my passion: strength training. I’m 6’ 4” and 342 pounds of mostly muscle – although my herniated L4/L5 – and a lot of trainers don’t know what to do with a guy of “my size.”  But that was absolutely no issue for Marv!

I’ve recently had the pleasure of Marv’s services at One Rep at a Time.  He not only took me on my weakest point and made it my strongest, but took my strongest and crushed it into something stronger! He has knowledge that I’ve never heard from any previous trainers or programs I’ve ever done, and there’s been a lot!

Not only did I crush my strength goals and look better in the process, but many of us in recovery don’t go to the gym for looks all of the time.  And that was Marv’s specialty with guiding me into a comfortable routine that my mental health could handle and improve with.  He knows the struggle I’ve been through and knows exactly how to use the gym, fitness, and recovery tools he’s learned along his journey to help me combat and overcome mine!

Trust me when I say if I hadn’t of met Marv and improved all physicality, as well as mental health, there would’ve been a pile of bruised bodies I’d beaten up a long time ago! Marv is a lifesave in many ways, but my fitness and recovery are truly grateful for him. And I simply won’t sugar coat it…”You’ve worked out before, but you’ve never done a Marv workout!” and “You may think you know what you’re doing, but then there’s Marv.” They say ignorance is bliss, but we do not want that to happen when plateaus could kill us, especially in recovery. So, thank you One Rep at a Time for bringing me to a level I never thought possible.  I thought I waskilling it before, but this is something everyone just needs to try to figure out that “sensational sensation” I’m talking about.  And that is pure and hard driven results.

I have spent the majority of my life destroying my body, first with drugs and alcohol, and later in life with food. I really had no expectations to live past 30. I never really took my health that seriously. I was much more interested in instant gratification and I really did not think about the consequences of my action. In a relatively short time, I found myself weighing in at 320 lbs. I am 5’ 11” so that puts me at around 150 lbs overweight. I was miserable at that weight. I was full of self loathing and my health was the worst it’s ever been.

At 44 years old and 2 years sober, I decided it was time to do something about my weight. I was sick of being overweight. I would lose my breath tying my shoes. My blood pressure was regularly 160/100 and I was having trouble controlling my blood pressure with medicine. My self esteem was dismal.

I managed to lose about 100 lbs counting calories and paying attention to my diet. I really didn’t exercise much because I’ve never really enjoyed working out. It hurts. And when you are as overweight as I was, it REALLY hurts. So, I rarely exercised. I managed to lose all of my weight just by counting calories. I have lost weight several times in my life, but I’ve always gained it back. This time was no different.

At some point, counting calories stopped working because, well quite frankly, I stopped counting. I went back to eating the way I’ve always eaten and the weight started creeping back into my life. I was devastated and felt hopeless. I was desperate. One more time I was going to gain all the weight I had lost back and more. Something had to be done.

I believe that’s when Divine intervention happened. I found FAA (Food Addicts Anonymous) and I started training with Marv (aka One Rep Marv).

I’ve never been motivated to train on my own, at least not for extended periods of time, so I was apprehensive to start training. I didn’t want to waste Marv’s time or my money. I decided to give it a shot. It’s turned out to be a truly great decision.

Marv is fantastic! I had no idea how to train when I started with Marv. I have always been intimidated by the Gym because I really didn’t know how to work out and my ego would always compare me to the guys I saw in the gym that were bigger than me and I felt I didn’t know how to work out. I didn’t want to look stupid. Marv helped me to resolve these issues.

Marv encouraged me and never judged me. He instructed me on how to properly work out and how to train my body. Marv took me through several different exercises. He showed me how to do at least 50 different training techniques and how to do them the correct way. He didn’t rush me. He was patient and was very attentive to my abilities. If there was any indication of injury, Marv would immediately have me back off that area of my training and focus on different techniques until I was safely able to continue without injury.

Marv also taught me about the importance of appropriate nutrition. Fortunately, the foods plan I was following for FAA already had me on a pretty solid track. We made a couple of adjustments and my nutrition has been on point.

Within a month I started to notice a difference in my physique. There was definition in my arms, chest and legs. My girlfriend and friends started noticing a difference too, so I continued working with Marv, but I was still apprehensive. I knew I couldn’t continue to pay Marv for the rest of my life and I was afraid that once I could no longer afford training, that I would still be afraid to go work out at the Gym. I expressed my concerns to Marv. He was understanding and assured me that once we were done with training, I would know exactly what I needed to enable me to go to the gym and train successfully. He also told me that he would take me to the gym and work out with me to help me figure out a routine at my gym that would work for me. He did all that.

About a month ago I stopped training with Marv and it was time to go out on my own. Our last training session was at my gym and Marv showed me how to do all the things that we had gone over in private with the equipment that was at my gym. I was on my own.

What I found was this. I love working out!! I am confident and secure in the techniques Marv taught me and I have no problem going to the Gym. The first couple of times were a little scary, but I soon realized that not only do I know what I am doing, but I am probably training more correctly that 80% of the people in the gym. Marv showed me the right way to work out. I have correct technique on my side. Not only will I avoid injury, but I will get better results with my workouts.

I’m not over doing it. I work out 3 times per week for about an hour and half. I am confident and no longer feel insecure when I’m at the gym. I am 169 lbs which is the lowest I’ve weighed in 30+ years and I see my body getting more and more toned every day. Marv gave me all the tools I need to be successful on my own!

I started working out with Marv not having any idea of the amazing changes that were to come. I have never had this much definition in my arms and butt! He inspires me to keep going. I have told many of my friends whom some are now training with. If you are a woman and truly want to make this the last “start over” cycle, I suggest you hire this man! Fun, energetic, motivating, and knowledgeable are a few words to describe him.

Training with Marv has been a blast! I look forward to the weekly sessions because his outlook and approach on developing a healthy lifestyle are inspiring. He has helped teach a number of exercises and explain the scientific process behind them.

I was able to see changes in the shape of my hips and bottom after only 4 weeks of training! Six weeks into training, I began to have people ask me what training regimen I was using and to keep at it!

I have a session next week and encourage you to do the same 🙂 It’s changing how I view myself and how I interact with people. It’s been lovely developing this new part of my life and has helped reduce the amount of sugar I use on a daily basis.

Marv you have the knowledge in sport training/nutrition as you train like us. So me being diabetic and weighing 298 pounds you recommended that I start a Ketogenic Diet (Steak & egg plus broccoli) with cardio and weight training. That meant PROPER and SAFE lifting not the MUSCLE COMIC MAGAZINE style or my old training habits. Now I’m building muscle and burning fat while still heaving energy. There are no heavy and irresponsible weights, meaning no injuries. I got all the way down to 259 pounds and gained muscle while going from a 3XL to XL. Marv thank you (and OneRepAtaTime.net) for giving me the confidence and courage to get my life back in shape.

Marv’s approach to physical, mental, and spiritual recovery is exceptional. I met Marv four years ago… he was a human being dis-functioning on every level. Physically his body was abused, his emotional state was irrational, and spiritually he was dying. Marv has made great progress and has become a dear friend of mine.
